How we think about cookies
We have made some deliberate choices about how personvernpraktikerne.no will function — and they start with the website's data flow itself.
The most important thing to know:
When you visit us, we do not automatically collect data about you that we can use to send you something, sell you something, or feed others information about you. You leave nothing behind that we can use for marketing or sales—unless you choose to do so yourself, for example, by filling out the contact form or subscribing to the newsletter.
In practice, this means:
- We use no Marketing cookies
- We are tracking you no across websites
- We share no data about you with third parties for advertising purposes
- We sell no Contact information or behavioral data
If you later wish to learn more about us, get our tips and tricks, or receive our newsletter, you can choose to provide us with your contact details. We will then use them for exactly what you have requested – and you can unsubscribe at any time.
The only choice you really have
With the principles above, you practically only have one choice: Will you allow anonymous statistics or not?
✅ Functional cookies (always active)
These are necessary for the website to function. For example, they remember if you have closed the cookie banner, which language you have chosen, or if you are logged into a customer portal. They do not contain any personally identifiable information about you.
Statistical cookies (you choose)
We use Matomo — a self-hosted analytics tool running on our own server. It tells us how many people visit the site, which articles are read most, and how people navigate through our content.
Why it's useful—for us:
- We see which articles actually help people (so we write more of that type)
- We see where people leave the page (so we can improve the copy)
- We see where visitors come from (Google, LinkedIn, other websites)
What we no To be
- Who you are as a person
- What other websites do you visit
- Your email, phone, or other identifiable information
- Something that lets us track you outside of our own website
You can safely say yes to this – but you can also say no, and either way works just as well.
❌ Marketing cookies (we don't have any)
Many websites use cookies from Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or similar tools that allow them to track visitors across websites and build advertising profiles. We don't use any of those.
This is a conscious choice. We believe privacy is best when it's built into how we work, not as a legal add-on. That's why you won't find a «Personalized ads» toggle with us — not because we forgot it, but because we've decided not to have the need for it.
What about the information I choose to give you?
If you fill out the contact form, sign up for the newsletter, book a Teams coffee, or otherwise choose to provide us with contact information, we will process it in accordance with our privacy policy.
- You give us information with a specific purpose (answer questions, newsletter, meeting)
- We use it for exactly that.
- We will not send you unsolicited marketing.
- You can withdraw consent at any time
